Registrar Ruth Jass oral history interview, 1998

Title

Registrar Ruth Jass oral history interview, 1998

Description

Ruth Jass was born in Peoria and graduated from Bradley University with a bachelor's degree in chemistry in 1948. While studying for her degree, she worked as a student assistant in the President's Office. After graduation, Jass accepted a temporary position at Bradley. She retired from Bradley in 1989. In 1953, Jass became the assistant registrar and later served as the director of institutional research and registrar. This oral history interview recounts the changes Jass observed on campus during her forty years of service, including the post-war enrollment boom, institutional strategic planning (and more strategic planning), and registration changes. Furthermore, Jass discusses recovering student records after the Bradley Hall fire of January 1963, a task made easier by her forethought to duplicate records on microfilm. Jass represents one of innumerable staff members who remain vital to the everyday function of Bradley University. Jass's interview is part of a larger oral history collection. Come listen!
