Title

Camp Bradley military exercise photograph, 1918

Description

This photograph features a military exercise at Camp Bradley in front of the barracks and Hewitt Hall (now the Hartmann Center). Established April 10, 1918, and lasting one year, Camp Bradley housed detachments of 300 to 500 men for eight weeks of intensive training prior to deployment during World War I. These soldiers learned automobile and tractor mechanics, blacksmithing, gunsmithing, machining, carpentry, instrument repair, practical electricity, and lens grinding. Bradley's curriculum filled the needs of the United States military. A Student Army Training Corps began training that September as well.
