Description
Bradley alumna and professor emerita Nita Sunderland (1927-2020) served as one of the first female college sculpture instructors in the United States. Sunderland she joined Bradley’s faculty in 1956. She found inspiration in classical and medieval art and used her work to explore historical and contemporary issues of equality and human rights for women. The Cullom-Davis Library Art Collection is home to many pieces by Nita Sunderland, including the sculpture Woman of Sarajevo shown here.
