Title

Kaboom! mascot photograph, 2014

Description

Following a survey of the community, Kaboom! the gargoyle was announced at Founder's Day in October 2013. A lion and an eagle were among the options. In an interview with Bradley’s marketing team, Kaboom! claims to have lived at Bradley since the institution’s beginning. Like the gargoyles atop Bradley Hall and the Hayden-Clark Alumni Center, Kaboom! watches over Bradley’s campus at night and eavesdrops on class during the day. Kaboom! abandoned anonymity and appeared during the Bradley v. Loyola basketball game at Carver Arena in February 2014. Dave Snell, the voice of the Bradley Braves, has shouted "Kaboom!" for every Bradley slam dunk at the men's basketball games since 1979. We'll leave it to Kaboom! and Dave to sort out who inspired Bradley’s mascot’s name.
