First issue of The Tech, 1898

The Tech student newspaper was first published in February 1898. The premiere issue featured a story about Lydia Moss Bradley, founder of Bradley Polytechnic Institute, and included a report of the October 1897 dedication ceremonies along with other events of student interest. Athletics and personal announcements columns kept students up to date with campus life.
