ASTP scrapbook, 1943-1944

Title

ASTP scrapbook, 1943-1944

Description

This scrapbook consists mostly of newspaper clippings documenting Bradley's involvement with the Army Specialized Training Program during World War II. The ASTP soldiers arrived in Peoria in the summer of 1943 to study a special course at Bradley Polytechnic Institute as part of their training. After nine months of the BPI program, the War Department curtailed the ASTP in favor of sending soldiers to fight overseas. On March 23, 1944, 249 soldiers departed campus to join the 96th Infantry.
